Something wrong with cichlid...

I just noticed this evening, was fine this morning. Seems like my tank will be fine, I'll turn around and have a problem. This fish has had it all. When I put her in, she didn't hide like the others, she just seemed to float down towards the bottom. She was the last one to start eating. It's been a while since then, and she was the only fish who had ick badly (one others fish had a tiny bit), recovered, and now this. The pictures are bad, but she's hiding so it's hard. Her mouth seems to be white almost, and she's just staying toward the bottom. Don't think she'll make it through the night, but I want to know what's wrong so other fish don't die. Thanks.

Sorry I posted in the wrong section here's a link to the thread : http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/c...cichlid-63300/

Thanks!

Just a guess, but it resembles mouth fungus...
I do not remember what the treatment is: search on this site and/or google it.
I am not 100% positive this is the correct diagnosis either.
Either way, best of luck with poor little fishy.

Thanks!

I combined them all into this one thread. I'm sorry about your fish. :-)

Thanks! I just flushed her today, woke up and found her pale and flopping around on the bottom of the tank. I'm guessing she had a combination of mouth fungus and something else (I'm not sure what  ). I figured she would be the first to die, she's alway's been the one to not eat, get ick, etc. since day 1. What's weird is all the other fish seem perfectly fine. I'm treating the tank with melafix for the next couple of days just in case.

Get rid of the crappy Melafix. Until your other fish exhibit the symptoms, do not treat.

As a precaution, what antibiotics do you have right now? You may need broad spectrum antibiotics. The issue with your fish was columnaris, gram-negative bacteria. Minocycline works here. Maracyn Plus is also an option along witrh Jungle Fungus Clear and kanamycin. Kanaplex if you can find it.

Well right now I guess i'm not using any antibiotics, I own paraguard and quICK cure but that's about it. No other fish are showing any symptoms.

I can't recall what the active ingredients in Paraguard are. Could you please post the list?

Quick Cure is not one of the options.
