blue gourami has wierd ball story time!!!(as usual) came home from school and blue gourami has a big ball on his left. right behind the gills, its about the size of of a grape, and scales protrude only in that area. other ailments i have spotted are the tip of the fins are rotting. ohh, and darker color. i dont have a cam cause i ....kind of... dropped it in my tank  . hehe, sorry but i will try to get a pic in as possible, any ideas on what it could be? |
hes gone, it was so fast. never seen anything killa fish in less than 8hrs. |
most likely some kind of bacteria infection resulting in fin rot. Sometimes bacterial infections will cause fluid buildup in some areas, resulting in a "balloon-like" growth. |
Is it like a pine cone effect ? |
pinecone disease is another term for dropsy which is still a bacterial infection. If you ever see this again, seperate the fish and treat with an antibiotic. Adding Epsom salt to the water too will serve as a laxative in a way and help the fish dispell any built up fluid. Dropsy can cause the whole body to bloat or it can be organ specific and cause a bulge on the body. Fortunately its not very contagious but still keep an eye on your other fish and make sure the water quality is good. |
well, it was like a pine cone effect, but it was only present in one spot on the body, not all over. |
