I rescued 6 convicts as fry from an emptied tank at the end of May last year. Im really enjoying their activity and ease of care. my concern is that they are maturing and I do not have room for babies. At what age are they sexually mature and will begin to mate? there is a definite size difference with 2 being easily twice the size of the other four. Based on the TFK profile, I believe the two to be male and the four, female. At what point should I separate them to avoid "happy accidents?"
You've had them almost a year and they're only 1.5-2"?
Yeah, separate them soon if you can. They can breed at a very young age, around 2".
