hello, new to the forum and need help too

Hello all :D

I have a question about what fish I should place in my tank.
heres the details.
I live in an apartment that will not allow any tanks over 10gallon.
So, I have a 10 gallon, with fake plants and a structure in it as well, small pebbles on the floor and a filter, heater and lite lid. I dont have any fish in it yet because I have been reading all over the forum about tank sizes and what fish work well in what size tanks and I dont want to be a mean fish owner. Now, heres my question. Is there a site that has a list of fish based off of the size of the tank you have?

Not that I can think of but if you give us an idea of what type of fish you would like we would be able to advise you on what would be suitabele for you.

Oh, and welcome to the forum! :)

Oh, thank you.

Well, I dont know a lot about them, so its going to be very simple, hehe.
I would like colorfull fish, like angels. The ones I was looking at dont seem to mix well, the Mono Sebae is one I love. The Mono Argentus, Panda Barb and Tiger Barb, Silver Zebra Angel fish, Black Molliea, Bala Sharks and the Black Ghost Knife Fish. Now, Im pretty sure those picks would not get along at all. From what I read on the net. But I figured I would ask people who know more about it then one site or another.

You have a 10 gallon, so you have a maximum of 10 inches of fish to work with. I advise you to stick with small critters, that way you can have more critters. I would suggest some Cory catfish. They stay small and are active, playful, and really attractive.

Welcome to the forum.

The two types of monos you mentioned require a very large tank(preferably 75 gallons) as both are very large. Balas and Black Ghost knives reach an overwhelming size of 12 inches or more. The angelfish will not like staying in a 10 gallons for long. They are best kept in large tall tanks.

Your options for a 10 gallons is pretty limited. Tetras of 5 cm and smaller, rasboras(5 cm or smaller), cories, otos, small species of anabantids or even dwarf puffers are just about right for a 10 gallons.

Good luck.:)

i have to agree with lupin... i started with a ten gal. i bought neons and tetras... then i introduced an angel and a chinese algea eater... the angel and algea eater grew so fast befor i knew it they were very aggressive and not happy... i eventually bought a 55 gal. for them. i still have my 10 gal. running i have 2 african dwarf frogs, a good sized male betta fish(very colorful), and a small algea eater. i also have some feeder fish that were in my 55 gal, but had to be moved because they were trying to eat my angels. now maurice my betta has plenty or entertainment with chaseing them all over my ten gal.
