12 new cories coming soon.. and question
In the next 2 weeks I will be getting a shipment of 12 new cories for my 55 gallon tank. It just occurred to me that the big increase in bioload by adding 12 fish all at once will be a problem. Is there something I can do now to help prepare the tank so it won't be hard on all my fish?
thanks in advance,
That should not be a problem in a 55g--unless is it way overstocked already. I have added more than that with no issues.
I assume the tank is established (cycled, but also established, meaning a couple months after cycling finished). It takes nitrosomonas bacteria about 9 hours to multiply by binary division when ammonia increases, and nitrospira bacteria about 20 hours. This is normally not an issue. If the water is acidic, ammonia will be no issue period. And if you have plants, even less of an issue.
I agree with byron
ditto what Byron said.
thank you all for your help.
Now the waiting.. that's the hard part
