Had to move all my fish last night.
These impuse buys are killin me. I was in a LFS and they had two tanks of Green spotted puffers.... man those little guys are cute.
I brought him home and put him in my Chi( after moving my Betta) untill I could get his new home ready.
I have a 125 that I have been workin on (http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/f...y-125-a-59208/) and I finally moved all my community fish from my 55 into the 125 last night. That took some time 23 fish, shrimp, snails, and ADF.
I then put the 55 back together... I had to remove the decorations and pull most of the plants in order to catch everyone :-(
Ok next was to move the fish from the 20 gal to the 55. These were the guys that came with the 125 and were stuck in the 20 untill I got the 55 ready.
So ... now I have tubs and buckets everywhere and everyone is getting aclimated to their new systems.
Finally I get to work on the 20 for Pete. It had all fake plants and no substrait. I took a pic after I got it done, but the water is still a little cloudy:
Late last night I finally got everybody In there new homes with no problems. It is funny ..... the big tank still looks kinda empty.... guess I will hafta get some more fish :-)
Oh an BTW here is a pic of Pete in his new home :
Oh man, that has got to be one of the cutest little puffers I've ever seen, thanks for posting Pete's pic!
I think the tank looks fantastic!!
Thanks.... he is cool, and I am realy havin fun with the tank decorating thing:-).
I stopped at Petsmart last evening and got a bag full of nuisance snails fer FREE.
He LOVES them. I only put a few in last night, i didn't want him to pig out.
The best part is I seen to have an almost endless supply of FREE food. Yeah!!
Yes, I agree on the cute puffer and the nice aquascape.
Malaysian livebearing snails are great in puffer tanks because the snails naturally burrow in the substrate so he can't get all of them at once, but as they sneak out which they do during darkness, he will find them. And yes, I know from experience how thorough one tiny puffer can be on getting every snail.
I got a pic today after the water cleared up.
The whole family is diggin the newest addition.
awww.pete is adorable, and the tank.. WOWOWOWOW i love it..
The tank looks awesome. i love that wood. And Pete is so cute. Is he in freshwater?
Is he fresh water..... I have spent MUCH time on that question.
What I have come up with is.... He starts life in fresh water then moves to brackish, and sometimes ventures into salt, but mostly stays in brackish.
Some people keep them in fresh with fresh water salt, as I am at the moment, but I have read that although they will survive like this.... they will not thrive, or meet there 15 year life expectancey. This has me in a quandry, I love my fresh water setup, and fresh water plants, but want to do what is best for Pete. I think I will be OK for a while as I am because he is still a juvenile, but I may have to ditch the plants and switch to brackish in the future :-(
