Columbian Tetras galore!
I am new to the website and looking for a little advice. I have a 60 gallon freshwater planted aquarium. The issue is, I started with 6 Columbian Tetras along with various other fish. Now I have about 20 Columbian Tetras and I don't know what to do with them. I didn't plan on them breeding, so now my tank is sufficiently over-stocked. My water is fine, but I think some of the other fish (one Angel, 3 Rainbows, and 4 red-eyed Tetras) are beginning to get a little stressed because there is not enough room for them all. I have tried to catch them (net) but it is impossible. I am sure they are breeding because my tank is heavily planted with lots of places to hide...which is exactly why I can't seem to catch any of them. I put some Juli Cori's from another of my tanks into this one hoping they will eat the eggs and keep my problem from getting worse. I realize how stupid this sounds, but is there any way to catch the babies other than a net and other than destroying my plants to get to them?
Welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping!:-D
I have tetra also, but they don't breed. My water is slightly basic, and my tetras don't like that.
Alot of fish stores will buy fish from you. If you can catch them, you could probably sell them. They will alot of times, pay you or give you store credit for additional fish. If you have an independant LFS (local fish store), they are more likely to accept your fish, but that doesn't mean they will, or that the chains (such as Petsmart or Petco) wont buy your fish.
Just a stocking pointer, all tetra need to be kept in groups of 6 or more.:-)
and if all fails I'd take some off your hands! and put them in my 75 gallon :) that would be nice hehe
