The renowned explorer Heiko Bleher, a member of this forum, recently found several species of Apistogramma in South America, and he offers some photos and comments in the linked article.
Heiko Bleher discovers: Apistogramma | Features | Practical Fishkeeping
Throughout more than 35 years exploring near-inaccessible areas of this planet, Mr. Bleher has discovered hundreds of new species and introduced many of them into the hobby. Two of these that are well known to many aquarists are the Brilliant Rummy Nose Tetra, named Hemigrammus bleheri by Gery to honour its discoverer, and Hemigrammus amandae, the Ember Tetra, named also by Gery in honour of Heiko's mother, Amanda, who was herself an avid explorer.
What a great article. I have a real fondness for Apistos so that was an enjoyable read for me. Thanks for posting!!
Wow, thanks Byron! Those are some neat apistos! Apistogrammas are some of my favorite fish (Especially apistogramma cacatuoides, I really like those).:-)
