All male guppies

Can male guppies be housed with just other male guppies and be happy? (Well as happy as they can be with no girls around  )

I plan on buying 6 all male guppies for my 10 gl. tank ( which I would get in a few weeks) because a.) they're more colorful and b.) i don't want them to breed, no space.

I might also buy 3 more male platies once everything is well established.

You guys think it would be just fine having an all male guppies living in 1 tank? or would there be some territorial and aggression issues here?

Yes, you can keep all males in a tank. Expect fin nipping among them but no serious damage should be expected. Just prepare your Melafix to treat tattered fins.

Forget buying male platies. Most platies are crosses of swordtails nowadays so don't be surprised if they become aggressive and eventually nipping your male guppies' tails to shreds.

What about female platties? They're not as aggressive as the male ones right? or could they even get aggressive at all?

They're less aggressive. Yes, you can get them if you wish to. It is very fortunate that platies and guppies cannot cross and I doubt guppies will try to divert their attention to the platies.

BEWARE!!! if you ever put a female guppy in the tank after they've been alone in there for awhile. We had 2 male guppies in a tank for a month or so, well we got given a female guppy and as soon as she was in the water they were at her and didnt leave her alone. When it was just the males there was no real problem, the female didn't really add a problem but I didn't want to look at the tank because, well, you knew what was going on! :sarcastic:

each fish needs atleast 2 gallons fo those 10 gallons all for himself. otherwise the tank is too small to have a bunch of fish. they could die of stress.[/quote]
