heater not heating..

i have a 10gallon tank with a male betta 4 zebra danios and tw ottos..i kept the water at about 78 to 80degreas and it was fine for about 3 weeks.here in the past 3 or 4 days its been slowly droping so id bump it up..its now all the way in the hotest position and the water is stil droping it was about 74 last night so i left the lights on all night..in the morning it droped another 2 degreas..lights on all day while at work i get home and its now at 70;;the orange heater light is on however

Definitely sounds like its dead, if the light is on but no one is home then time to buy a new one.

What brand is this heater?
How many watts?

Time to replace it.

Lupin is correct!!! Time for a new heater. Get a good one it worth the investment. If the old one sticks in the high position you will boil you fish!
