White tips on the ends of the shells mean??

I noticed the tips of my MTS shells are becoming white. I know this means that they are lacking something in their diet. Is that something calcium?? These snails are in a 10gl tank for the purpose of keeping the tank cycled. It is barebottom with floating plants. What can I feed them to help their shells return to their original coloring? I know white washed tips can't be a good thing...Thanks!!

Yeah, lacking calcium. Calcium pills such as Caltrate work but they cloud up the water although no harm done. Any foods high in calcium work especially kales and collards.

Thanks Lupes, I knew you'd know! Do MTS actually like collard and kale?? I grow it in my garden, certified organic so it'll be an easy cure. Thank you!

Give it a try. Start with shreds first.

Someone posted a while back that they use those cuttlebones that you put in bird cages.

Veggies sound like a much better option tho. Hope your snails like your garden offerings :)
