How much light do u need for plants?
Welcome to the forum!
Your question is really, really to broad to answer.
A review of the information at
might help you to "refine your question".
Good to have another Texan around.
As you can tell from my avatar my blood runs burnt orange and white.
CM (CafeRacerMike) lives in Austin but has visited and/or purchased from LFS's in most of the central area of the State and can hopefully help you with good LFS's in your area (have PM'ed him with the link to this post).
If you happen to be an Aggie or Raider not to worry:
my company is non discriminatory.
Like Jones said, is a broad question but if you are talking about being ready to grow any plant on the market then you are looking at a lot of light. Normally 3.5-6 watts depending on tank size. It isn't as hard as it sounds though and the site will help a lot to try and explain some of the technical aspects of growing plants and what they need.
