Compatible with Angelfish?
I have a new 30 litre Bio-Orb which has cycled for around 3 weeks and I then added a young Angelfish (I did have 2, but one died of cotton mouth)
I'm new to keeping these fish and have mainly had tetras, barbs etc before.
I was just wondering what the stocking level for this type of tank would be? I know they grow quite big and eat smaller fish.
I would quite like a Rosy Barb and perhaps some X-Ray Tetras again but am unsure and would love some expert advice!!!
Welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.
We have a section here called "Tropical Fish Profiles" under the second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top of the page. Many of the more commonly-kept fish are included, and the angelfish is there. You can also see the profile by clicking on the shaded name of the fish in posts, Pterophyllum scalare is the common angelfish.
If you check the info in the profile, you will note that angels are shoaling fish that must be in a group, and require at least a 4-foot tank due to their growth and size. A 30 litre (you did say litre, not gallons) is much too small for these fish, they will be stunted and stressed.
As for companions in larger tanks, barbs are not the best, this also is explained in the profiles, and suitable companion fish are mentioned.
