golden gourami building a bubble nest
My golden gourami is building a bubble nest. After some time the apple snails come and destroy the nest. Is there something tasty there for them in the bubbles, and should I take them out of the tank?

do you have a pair of gouramis? males build bubble nests to care for young, probably they are after the fry.

I have three golden gouramis. At least I think I do. The one that is the male looks different - he has no spots, is bigger and brighter. I removed the snails but the bubbles were destroyed in the morning anyway. Maybe the cories did it - they gulp up the air exactly at the place of the nest.

Female gouramis should have a rounder tip shape on the end of their dorsal fin.

They all have sort of roundish dorsal fins - they are still young.

Sorry - it is true that the male's dorsal fin is sharper. I have had a closer look. But he also looks different. He is definitely a different colour and has no spots. Maybe he is a different kind of gourami. The ladies do not pay any attention neither to him nor to his nest.
