Musk turtle water temperature I'm going to be setting up a tank for a common musk turtle and I'm currently buying all of the things I'll need for the tank because there is a sale going on on petco.com I've got everything but the heater. I'm stuck between two. One is Tetra Submersible Aquarium Heaters at PETCO and keeps the water at a constant 78 degrees and doesn't have an option for adjusting. The other is: Marineland Stealth Visi-Therm Submersible Aquarium Heaters at PETCO and does have an adjustable temperature gauge. I've read many place that musk water temperature needs to be anywhere between 72-78 degrees but have also been told to keep it between 72-74. If the first range of temperatures(72-78) is correct I'll buy the first as it is a little cheaper, but if the second set of temperatures(72-74) is correct I'll get the second. Thanks guys! |
Buy the one that will give you the most use.... That means adjustable. what if you get out of turtles some day, and your next inhabitants need a cooler temp? then you are stuck again having to buy another heater. The 78 has only one option. Adjustable has many options. JMO |
I completely agree. You may also decide to give the guy some fish friends as well and that would require a possible temp change. I always go with what could save me time and money in the long run. And with an adjustable if a problem arises where you will need to get the water warmer to fix a medical problem you can do that. |
Yeah, I was thinking about the long run. It does make much more sense to get one I can adjust. It's only a few dollars extra. Thanks guys! |
