I notcied on one of my black ruby barbs that some white puffs have developed. I'm not sure if they're ich, but they look kinda poofy.
There are 2 total, one on his tail fin and one near his pectoral fins.
two and puffy. sounds like fungus. can we have a pick? fungus looks white and puffy, but derives from itch. maybe your tank had it before getting fungus.if indeed, treat it with some fungucide and look for ather ailments.
Today the little guy is looking better.
I added 1 tablespoon of salt last night and he seems to be "healing."
I think the whole group is stressed from the move from Petco to my 29 gallon planted, and maybe the higher temp. *78-82 for my loaches* is getting to them. They are just starting to show breeding colouration, so maybe all this growth is a bit stressful? Thankfully, they've had about 10 different foods in the last 4 day period. :P
When I got home from school today, I found him dead on the bottom. This means that he died recently and of natural causes, correct?
After observing his body, I've found that the spots are gone. Maybe he just got stressed from the change.
And now another "male" fish is acting oddly. And yet another seems to have an extremely downturned mouth. Is this period of growth too much for the male ruby barbs to handle???
Slightly hard water
And now I found this other barb dead. And I'm questioning whether the one with the mouth deformity will go next. The funny thing is, they've all been juveniles in the crossing-over stage of coloration, and the coloration began to appear when I brought them home.
