New dream tank

(Possibly)200g planted community freshwater tank with a large footprint, the main occupant being a fire eel. My original dream tank was a large (90g+) SW setup, but I've narrowed that to maximum 40gallons, since I've learned of the cost and maintenance necessary.
What kind of tank mates would you include? :-)

A Fire Eel will eat fish that are small enough, especially once it gets close to two feet. Also remember that in a planted tank a fire eel may start uprooting your plants as they burrow so make sure they are anchored well. As far as tank mates silver dollars that are too big for the eel to bother would probably do well, Java Barbs or Tinfoil barbs would be ok but they might nibble at your plants, Larger Loaches, Siamese flying fox, two spot catfish, Leaf fish, Bala Sharks, Needle Fish, large gourami. Any of those would probably do pretty well with a Fire Eel.
