20 gallons enough?

I was wondering if 20 gallons is enough for 10 cardinal tetras, 6 guppies, 1 or 2 dwarf gourami, and one male betta?

Well I'm going to start,

1. Male betas should never be kept with anything besides like a snail. So that's a no.
2. If you just go by the inch per gallon rule cardinal tetras and guppy's average out to about an inch and a half each so all together that would be about 24' which is already about the most the tank could handle. ( But live plants do help)
3. I'm not sure because ive never had any but I think dwarf gouramis are territorial, so two wouldn't work, but like i said not sure.

If I were you I'd go with something like this

6-8 tetras (smaller the better, like neon's, but cardinals would be fine)
6-8 smaller Cory's (like pepper Cory's) for the bottom
A centerpiece fish like a swordtail or a dwarf gourami

Sorry if this seems like a lot but im just trying to help!

Good luck!

The inch per gallon rule isnt really a rule, its more of a guideline at best.

Keeping a betta with the tetras is perfectly fine, Ive done it without a single problem.
Its not recommended to keep bettas with guppies, but Ive done it without a single problem.
Id definitely not keep a betta with gouramis, both are anabantids and will more than likely fight.

It sounds like too many fish to me, but try out AqAdvisor - Intelligent Freshwater Tropical Fish Aquarium Stocking Calculator and Aquarium Tank/Filter Advisor and see what it tells you.

Thanks for the link. My male betta is currently in a 5.5 gallon tank with three tetras. It's like they're not even there.
