My ram has a gash he might die.... remedies?
Help my rams gash hasn't gone away... he mated about a day ago and cureently the female is guarding the eggs. He is in a cave breathing normally but obviously injured and burdened. How can I make him better for i don't wantto lose himof him... . Also I have no idea how he got this gash. Maybe a sucker fush ate part of him. I don't know. I put some solution that says repairs damaged tissue and gives slime coat back but it isn't working well. He has been acting okay until now . Was their lastr spawn a last resort to pass on his genes. And if he does die is it easier to pair the female with a new male then vice versa

For any kinds of gashes or breaks that don't seem to be healing up on their own I use malafix from API. It is the only chemical besides conditioner that I ever use in a tank. I also only use half doses. I am not sure it's effects on Rams, so I would make sure that it is not one of the fish that is extra sensitive to it, if so you may want to use a quarter does.

Depending on how long the gash has been there you might want to make sure you give it enough time to heal on its own before entering chemicals into the water. Make sure to keep your water extra clean so your fish does not contact a bacterial infection.
