Yellow Labs Problem - Need Help

Hello :-)

I have 4 Electric Yellow Labs in one of my 30 gallon tanks for the last week. The problem is that they appear to be extremely shy and always hide in the small spaces of the hill type formation I have made with rocks in the tank. They hardly ever come out and swim outside the rocks!! Is there anything wrong? Should I add some dither fish to make them come out from their caves more often or should I decrease the number of rocks to lessen the hiding places?

Other tank details:

Tank Measurements: 30" (L) X 15" (W) X 16" (H)
Tank Capacity: 30 gallons
Substrate: Sand
Rocks: Yes
Filtration: Internal Power Filter@1200 L/H + Dolphin h-500 HOB Filter
Light: 13W PL
Heater: 150 W Sobo Thermostat (Temperature set at: 78 F)

Please advice.

Regards,
Souptik

are they eating well? and what type of lighting do you have? as its been a week i would expect you may see them begin to relax a bit and start to get more active in a few more days....

Thanks for the reply bearwithfish! :-)

The lighting currently is a 13 watts PL lamp, not too bright. They don't seem to be eating either. They remain hidden in the caves. :-(

I'm planning to put a few tiger barbs in the tank, will they act as dither fish to bring the labs out a bit more?

its possible my concern would be tigers .. not a big fan of then my self but thats my opinion.... is the tank fully cycled? what are your readings as of late? just trying to assist.... seems to be just a new environment...

The tank has been running for the last 7 months and was housing barbs previously till I changed to the yellow labs. Should I put in albino barbs instead of the tiger barbs or should I skip the idea of adding them altogether?

Many thanks for your help, i really appreciate it. :-)

again its really your choice.. yeah after 7 months you are for sure cycled LOL
sorry had to ask ....

if you decide to add them let us know how it goes..

ohh how about some pix LOL just like to see lots of set ups

Hehe... yah the tank is well cycled. :-)

I will add some Albino barbs in the tank tomorrow in the morning and see how it goes. Will post back here for sure.
