How do you clean ceramic rings

Can you use bleach to clean ceramic rings used in box filters? Thanks

You don't clean them. Their purpose is a surface for beneficial bacteria to grow, cleaning them kills everything on them. If they have lots of built up waste on them I just dunk the tray in water taken from the tank at the time of a water change and maybe slosh them around a little.

Just swish them around in some tank water when doing water changes. Do not clean them!!

I agree with others, the ceramic media (rings) should not need cleaning but if you must,,then purchase some new ones and change no more than half of the old ones for new ones at one time.
You can then clean the old ones with mild solution of bleach and water .Rinse thouroughly and let dry completely. You will then have spare media for the next time.
