Housing a Dwarf Puffer
I was looking into getting a Dwarf Puffer and having it live in my small established tank.
Here are its general specs:
Size: 5.5 Gallon
Fertilizer: Seachem Flourish Comprehensive, once a week
Inhabitants: 2 Cherry Shrimp
2 Japonic/Amano Shrimp
??? Pond, Malaysian Trumpet and ramshorn snails
Filtration: sponge filter, plants
Lighting: 6500K flourescent, 8 hours a day
Decor: Malaysian Driftwood, assorted plants, rocks, dark grey silica sand
I'm trying to gather as much info on them as I can before I jump into this.
Could anyone please tell me what type of habitat it would prefer ie:
Heavily vs lightly planted
How it handles light (if it needs a lot of shade)
Water flow, what it prefers (because i was planning on adding a mini internal filter-turned powerhead since the sponge filter creates very little water circulation)
And I have more specific questions like:
How many dwarf puffers to a heavily planted 5 gallon tank?
What kinds of food should I prepare?
What kind of situation would be created if I were to place a dwarf puffer into my tank that is FULL of snails?
Sorry for the wall of text/barrage of questions! And thanks in advance for the help!
I am not sure if this is the norm, but the puffer we had, tore everything up, and ate everything that was in with it. I would definitely make sure it wasn't going to eat your shrimp.
Here is a great site that can help you with any questions I may have missed:

Thanks for the input guys! I'm going to remove my cherry shrimp and put them in my cory tank. I've read that people have had success with dwarf puffers and amano/japonic shrimp so I'm going to give it a try!
Will upload pics or videos if i can :)
