when my hermit crabs shed there outer skeleton should I remove the old skin or leave it in the tank to be eaten?
i think they should eat it while they are still burried.
actually sorry didn't realise what section this was in,so don't know
now if my answer applies. sorry.
When mine do, and when my ginormous coral banded shrimp does, I leave it because it usually gets eaten by SOME one in the tank. When he molts its huge and its usually gone in less than a day.
I leave mine in, not done any harm. I spotted a bristleworm dragging the last one into a rock for a quick lunch.
leave it, will give them/other creature some calcium/iodine supplements.
