My first pair of cichlids: julidochromis transcriptus bemba a couple of ?'s
Has anyone kept these? And if so, what is your experience with them?
I'm having trouble finding a profile. I'd like to find out about breeding conditions.
I think the pair may be spawning, but i'm unsure as i've never kept them before. They kinda share a cave a lot of the time rubbing each other aqainst the rocks, when they're not chasing off the red tail shark in the tank. \
Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance
Here is a link that has some info on breeding them, not sure how right they are, but they are wrong on removing the matched pair.
And one more:

Nice fish, based on the pics I'm seeing on the internet. Do you have a pic of yours to share??
Are these fish hard to come by?? I'd love to have some. :-)
@ Las Colinas Cichlids thank you for the link and advice.
@ aunt kymmie thank you for the compliments. We think they are beautiful, they are black and white and when they stretch their fins they are blue/bright purple at the tips...it's just lovely. My LFS is amazing. They had this pair in with some another pair of a different species. They were marked for 12 bucks a piece i got the pair for 20 because they are cool like that. Also i had my lovely bride with me and she really liked them(boys always like to make the girls happy).
If they turn out to have fry and you haven't found any by then i'll let you know and ship you some when they get to the right size. I just have zero experience with them, so it appears i have plenty of research to do.
I'll try to get some pictures up of them very very soon. I have pictures of my new planted tank(45 gallons) up on the aquariums tab,the a but not of this tank yet, there's still some plants i want to add to the setup(java ferns on some driftwood).
They sound absolutely striking. I hope to see some pics soon! Here's to a successful spawn
You are very welcome. Hope you have great success with them!!!
Julidochromis Transcriptus are next on the list of Tanganyika cichlids I would like to keep. When I bought my Neolamprologus Multifasciatus, the breeder had a tank full of Julis that got me thinking about doing a huge Tanganyika tank.
today i saw fry for the first time!!less than a month after adding the pair to the setup. I just started a thread about it on the pictures and videos forum
