I am just one big question mark. The thing is that I am currently setting up a 80 gal and having problems with that,
Now I am worried about the lighting. Just what lamps can be safely recommended so that the light is not too bright? I suspect that mine is too bright. It is a daylight lamp, standard Wromak equipment, 30 Watt, two lamps, 6500k. The tank is not yet heavily planted.
60 watts over 80 gallons might as well be darkness. You shouldn't have any problems unless you want to grow plants other than Java Moss, Java Fern, and the most crepuscular of Anubias and Cryptocoryne.
The only reason you would need less light than that is if you were trying to set up a tank with dim lighting for best observation of Clown Plecos or Raphael catfish or some other light shy species. If that's not an issue, then don't seat less light, worry about how to get more if you're going to do live plants.
Thank you! That sounds very convincing.
