My first caves

I got some equipment so I can start making my own caves for my plecos:

Large cave Inner Dimmensions (14cm L x 5cm W x 4.5cm H)
Small cave Inner Dimmensions (14cm L x 3.5cm W x 2.5cm H)

I know, too much silicone. This is my first set of caves, so I just wanted to see how they turned out. I used clear silicone for the larger one and black silicone for the smaller one. I think I like the look of the clear one better.

The larger one will be for my L-333 to hide out in. I'll probably make a couple more to put in my 125 gallon (473 liter) tank for my L018 Gold Nugget pleco to hide in. I'll make a few more without the back cover, so it can act like tunnels for my clown loaches to play in.

The smaller one will be for my zebs when they get bigger. I'll be making some smaller ones for them to use right now since they are still juveniles.

Eddie, it would have been better if you were able to post pics of step-by-step manual on how to make caves.
Then this thread would be moved to DIY section if you have pics for manual.

:?: Hi Eddie are you using marble to make the caves?

crazie.eddie 09-23-2006 12:11 PM

These are just my first ones, which are kind of crappy looking. Eventually, when I figure out the shortcuts, I'll probably go ahead do the a step-by-step procedure.

Oceane, they are slate floor tiles that I bought from Lowes (DIY superstore).

crazie.eddie 09-23-2006 02:45 PM

Cool. But there's a guy in UK that also makes them, so if you're really interested, I could pass you his information.
