Growth on Plec
 

Hello, and Happy New Year!

I would be very grateful for some help identifying and treating a growth that has appeared to one side of the mouth on my Plec.

I've attached a photo of the plec - I'm sorry it is a little blurred, but I haven't yet mastered the art of taking pics of my aquarium. I think it is, however, clear enough to show the problem.

At the moment, the fish seems ok apart from the offending growth.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Hi... there is another post in this thread about a bump/growth on a tetra. I don't have experience with odd growths... knock on wood (I've been engaged in a war with ich for what seems like forever), but I found a website that seems to be pretty thorough on the subject. It has lots of pictures to try to help diagnose the disease, cause, treatments, etc. Here is a link: Tropical Fish Disease Identification with pictures and cures.

I did a water change in the tank last weekend, and have medicated with a general purpose medication. The plec likes to hide, so I haven't been able to see the growth clearly, but having had a glimpse yesterday, I am hoping that the growth has reduced. We'll see.
