Prices will vary depending on the strains resulted and the Law of Supply and Demand. Cobalt Blue is by far the cheapest in my area. I can't specify clearly on most expensive however as the selection of strains is quite limited.;) Blue Diamond seems the most expensive strain here right now. Others available are Royal Snakeskin, Red Marlboro and Pigeon Blood.

Agreed, cannot see the fascination, Sorry Discus fans  £20 a shot upto £75 for a adult, but there by no means the most expensive fish at my LFS. Of the top of my head £600 Arowana, £200 Wolfs. The list goes on.

loacal water conditions dont suit them at all(discus) perhaps that explains the prices some of them are "wild caught" twice the price twice the problems i could buy a whole new setup and stock it for less than £200

I have 4 of them and plan to get more.

Actually I like the solid colors better than snakeskin, etc. I would love to get one that is pure white.

I got my 4 as babies for $8 each.

I saw a guy on Craigslist that had 10 quality adult ones for $110 for the lot!!

He wouldn't sell them separate and I didn't have the tank space or I would have taken them.

Point is, hunt for a bargain. A lot of LFS will specifically say "no refunds" for discus, so find someone who needs to get rid of theirs cheap....don't spend $50 each for them unless they are absolutely beautiful, rare and come with a warranty

a miracle happened here today. a lfs got some blue turqs in and guess who has some on reserve...i do! they are selling for 30 (cdn). i would imagine that they are young. guess i'll find out tommorow. no stores around here ever get discus so this is great.
