Good news and bad news....Advice?

Well the good news is that I boiled a bunch of driftwood this morning, and it looks good, with lots of nooks and crannies to secure plants.

The bad news is that my wife came home early for lunch, smelled the "salty" smell in the house, and busted me boiling the driftwood on the stove in her the big Caphalon pot...with lots of dirty foam at the top of the boil and me using one of her "fancy" spoons to skim off foam.

Any advice..I can't keep the fish warm out here in the doghouse.

Wash it well? Why would she be bad? It cleans right up :-)

buy her a new pot, tell her how sorry you are,and keep the old one
for boiling your wood.

I know exactly what you are going through. Just explain to her how much you enjoy your hobby, clean up after yourself and apologize. She will get over it in a couple of days.

I cleaned the pot up, "good as new" and ventilated the house (and warmed the neighborhood) so I think we are back on an even keel...Oh yeah, going out to dinner tonight, too.

Yes, I have ran into this problem too, however my issue was washing gravel in a colander haha. Since then I have just pruchased my self my own fish supplies that include a big pot to boil in, a colander, and some buckets etc.

P.S. also don't use the dish sponge to clean algae off decorations. Apparently thats not ok with them either haha

Oops...a little late for that one. Yet another casualty of this mornings venture.

..Been married 43 years here... listen... reminding your bride that you are soooo lucky to have her since she is VERY tolerant of all your strange hobbies is always a good approach. Also, "oh darn, you are so right dear, I should of thought of that", is humble pie worth millions. AND, what ?? you didn't burn any candles while you boiled that stuff???
