Can you clean sand indoors?

Like for the first time, is it safe to clean sand indoors like in a bathtub or big sink?

Id think not because of all the sand going down the drain would clog it...

i've cleaned sand indoors befor, however i use abucket to do it
so i get the least amount of sand down the plug hole as possible
i half fill the bucket then fill with water then just let the scum run over the top
of the bucket.

I just cleaned sand last night, at 28 degrees.

Dumped sand in a bucket, put hose in bucket, wrapped up warm, had a beer, and just watched the water flow.

Every now and then I would use a 1x2 "stick" and turn the sand in the bucket. Not too long, only clear water was flowing over the top of the buck, and I declared victory.

By the way, I would be careful, outside the fish keeping community, who I told I was cleaning sand.

Good Luck.
