Is my Jack Dempsey Male or Female? 4 Attachment(s) I have been trying to breed them but I'm having a hard time because this one is always fighting with the other guy/girl and never get along, the other one is always hiding I'll try to snap some pics later for ID, thanks. |
That is a male JD. Post a pic of the other one when you can. |

1 Attachment(s) Hmmm...really hard to see but it looks like a male. The females will have a lot of blue on their gill plate and it's more splotchy but not as much on the rest of their body whereas the males have lots of blue spangling throughout their whole body. Here's a pic of a female JD I got off the web. Notice the concentration of blue on her gill plate. Can you get a clearer side shot? By the way, your first male is a real nice looking one. |
