Bubbles in water.

Hi guys,

I am still gettin loads of tiny bubbles in my tank due to the protein skimmer i think, how can i make the water Crystal clear? (losing bubbles).

Ive added some extra cut out mesh in the skimmers return box but its still bubbling

Many thanks

Its tough with those hang on style skimmer returns. If you are already trying a mesh covering over the outlet, then the tried and true method is not working, which makes this a challenge.

You could consider moving the skimmer to the far end of the tank and positioning the outlet over the far corner. Then build up a live rock structure so that the outlet is falling directly onto the rocks, allowing the rocks to break up the bubbles. This works well in sumps, so I would thing you could be creative and make this idea work in the tank.

Is the skimmer in a sump? If so slow down the amount of water returning fromt he sump to the display tank. If its a HOB skimmer, good luck! I personally don't like HOB skimmers for this reason. It makes it difficult to control micro bubblles.
