Aggressive platy :(
So I figured out why my orange female platy has been acting weird, ex: anal fins clamped, not eating much, keeping to herself. It's because my biggest female platy, the red one, is chasing her and "dominating" her. The orange one will be staying near the bottom of the tank in the corner and the red one comes down on top of her and fluffs a bit and makes her fins flap really fast, then the orange one leaves with fins clamped and tail aiming down.
I guess my question would be, how can I fix this?? Why is she being so mean?
Thanks in advance guys and gals!!
aww sorry to say but there is nothing u can do but get rid of the one that is being aggressive..ive had that problem to but my balloon molly was the one..i just waited it out and delt with it..eventually it died but since thats a healthy balloon molly i wud seperate it
Do you have a male platy in this tank? He might keep both females so busy they won't have time to fight.
I've noticed these problems before with platies, although this is the first time I've heard of a female doing the bullying. Either way, the only solution is to move the agressive one to another tank or take him/her back to the fish store. The one who is being picked on will be more active once the bully is gone.
I dont have a male, got rid of them because I was afraid I would have to many babies. They did seem to do better with males in there though. It's weird because the platy being picked on now, used to be the bully. So bazaar. I've heard that if you rearrange the tank it can sometimes help. Is this true?
So i came home today to find the little orange female dead. Don't know what killed her, but I'm kinda bummed about it.I wonder if she was ill and that's why the others were picking on her? It makes me sad loosing a little fishy friend!
she cudve been sick
if that happens again try adding mor females or a male or to depending on the amount of males in the tank
