Cold Cathode for growing?
Has anyone tried using cold cathode tubes for lighting?
I want to increase the light in my tank, but I don't want to spend too much. The cheapest upgrade is to do similar to the moonlight cold cathode like this:
I did it with blue and it works great. I want to do it again, but using a white tube this time. It is floursecent, but they don't tell you the temp or lumens....so the spectrum is unknown.
If anyone has a reason not to try, let me know..
Haven't heard of anybody doing it and without knowing the specs of the light in terms of CRI, and Kelvin, it would be hard to tell.
But cold cathode is pretty cheap anyway, so I'd say go for it and tell us how it goes!
