hey all new to the forum exotic ecoxotic actinc blue stunner- useful for green algae?
hello all my first thread :). i have a planted 208 liter freshwater community tank and recently purchased a t5 ho lighting system and i am quite pleased with it. i had been leaving it on for too long regularly, like 15-16ish hours a day, so it was no suprise when my water started getting pretty darn green. i made sure it wasnt anything other than me stupidly abusing my plant lights and it wasnt.
i acted accordingly and the situation has been remedied so i figure 8 hours a day is appropriate. unfortunately putting it on at night and off in the day is not a possibility due to extenuating circumstances so ive been looking at led lunar lights and find myself quite taken with the ecoxotic actinic blue stunner though i am unsure what an led that bright can do to algae. if i left my tank light on for 8 hours and i had a single led strip on for five daily would that be okay in keeping algae blooms at bay (no pun intended) or would it be counter-productive?
added exotic in the thread name by accident lest there be any confusion whoops
Hi and welcome to the forum
Wouldn't it be easier to put your lights on a timer? Then you wouldn't have to worry about not being there to turn them on and off. 10 hours a day of light should be fine and you can always do 5 and 5 so you can enjoy your tank at night.
