Another first timer starting up
Well my main question is I purchased a 55 gallon tank that has led's lighting which I would compare it to, I guess 30 watt bulb. I just purchased it yesterday filled it and added the detoxing additive that came with it. I want to let it cycle, but what kind of plants can I put in there I want it to look nice and green. But I don't know if I am going to have to purchase another lighting system, which I am hoping not. Any ideas? Thanks
From what I have been told and know, the easiest plants for beginners in basically any lighting are Anubias, and Java Ferns. Other stuff is more specific in it's demands. Hope that's a start for you anyway. Good luck with it all. :-)
Without knowing the exact type of lights on the tank it is hard to tell. I don't really know much about LEDs and growing plants, but java fern and Anubias is probably the best place to start. From what I have heard only the really high quality LEDs put out enough light to grow plants.
If you can provide some info on the light some of us may be able to offer advice. I have read recently that LED is not good lighting for planted aquaria, but the way new technology is developing this could change overnight. Even a link to the website with info on the system might help.
