Pregnant molly stressed?
Ive got a dalmatian molly that is pregnant and i just got a small 10L tank from my sister that I'm going to use for a breeding tank for the fry to grow up in. I just put my pregnant molly in there yesterday and I'm wondering if she will be stressed on her own. Also the tank has a mirrored back wall and she keeps swimming looking at herself.
How pregnant is she? I have the exact same set up, 10 gal tank with a preg dalmatian molly. She is in there with some guppies and glofish...who are pretty much population control!
But a few days before she gives birth, she starts that kind of pacing activity, where she is going up and down and up and down, looking at herself. Then, maybe a day later, she swells up a TON (her right eye does too, RIGHT before she has her babies) And then she has her fry, and all is well! When I want some fry, I take her out when she calms down after her pacing episode, and put her in a breeder and sit around and wait for the fry so I can remove her in time.
But as for her being alone, not sure! This is like a three day process for me, so maybe she is acting different?
My dalmatian molly ALWAYS has silver molly fry! Weird!
Im not sure how long through pregnancy she is but she has a very gray gravid spot and she is squarer then she used to be. She isnt as big as my platy was when she was having her 11 babies. I thought she was bigger last week then she is this week, maybe i missed the fry during the night?
She hasnt been doing a lot today just slowly swimming and sort of fighting the filter current.
Here are some pictures anyway.
she dosnt look very pregnant to me :(
Sadly she died a few days ago. I think cause i got a new filter for that tank it screwed up the pH and ammonia and all that.
But now my red wag platy is pregnant. With the same question though would a mirrored glass tank stress out any of my fish?
