bored or curious oscar?
sometime when im watching my oscar he will be swimming along then he will look at the background and then try to attack the background (opens his mouth and tries to swim into it... although its a rock background.....
and lately he has dug a hole in the gravel exposing the bottom of the tank, and he actually moved the gravel to infront of the convicts cave.... hes actually blocked all but 1cm of thier entrance. now he will swim around his hole and occasionally try to attack the foam on the bottom of the tank
now could he be getting very bored or is he seeing his reflection or?
big fish, such as FW oscars and SW triggerfish tend to remodel the tank to their liking. it should be normal as aggressive fish tend to act in destructive ways. they could even bite air lines and tip over tall structures as for the reflection, i really dont know what could be going on, probably he is growing more belligerent and is finally showing you the ways of the oscar
ive had him for about a year and a half. hes only been acting like this in the past 3 months.
he is usually a huge sook. for a long time he was actually scared of the light....... as soon as you turned it on he would go pale and hide....then about 2 hours later he would start to venture out a little. lol
Is it alone?
the first thing you said was about your fish is an adult and it ir regular .
but the second problem is some how different?
when do you usually turn the lights on
you must do it before the day light is gone to prevent the fish fear of lights.
well i usually have it on during the day light hours, cos the room he is in is quite a dark room. but i turn them on when the sun is out but its not shining into that area. so maybe the sudden brightness is doin it.
other than that he has 2 tank mates, 2 convicts
they are both male convicts, altho one of them has the colour of a female. they have never bred so this is why i assume they are both male, lol
the oscar will stand his ground but all they do is stay about 5 cm away from each other and just move back and forth flaring at each other
