Bristlenose Pleco & Their Spikes
 

I've had my BN now for around 5-6 months and in that time he has only grown about an inch or so. I would really like to tell what sex it is but it hasn't yet grown it's "Spikes" does anyone know when this usually happens?

I have a 2 1/2 year old ABN plec and she has ZERO bristles. Perhaps you have a female BN??
You say yours had grown an inch, what size was he/she when you got him/her??

How big is it now?
As said already, it could be a female, pretty impossible to tell until they're mature. I got one that was a good 3 inches and had no spikes at all - thought it was a female, but then he grew spikes after a few months!!
