Guppy species tank :)
 

Been stocking up on guppies lol, went round allllll my local lfs and ended up with 8 :)
moved some tanks around so they will pretty much have their own 64 litre / 17 US gallon. How many adult guppies can live in this size tank? Not taking into account fry as I have other tanks for them.

depends on your filtering system etc. you can get away with more fish if you have a good external filter but if internal then maybe 20 for that many litres.

with guppies you have to get more females to males, like 10 females to 1 male if you have more males they start killing each other for the ladies :-( even thought the male guppies are the ones with nice fins

You will never have enough tanks for the fry lol

Keep the 8 and then keep a few fry, be patient and don't go to full capacity right away.. that way if you find or raise something you really like you are able to house it.

but you could probably keep 15 adult guppies in a 17 gallon, that is a bit overstocked but guppies are generally forgiving, as long as you can keep up with the cleaning/water changes.

I have several other tanks running which are massively understocked or totally empty, friends who want some fry and one of my LFS will take them too :D so plenty of room for fry!
I do frequent water changes with my tanks anyway, and I have a fluval U2 filter in the guppy tank (sorry forgot to add that!)
I have never had problems with guppies fighting before. How do you find the survival rate of the fry? MJine has always been terrible in the past, even with great water quality etc :(
