how long?

how long do you think it would take to cycle a new 3foot tank that ive used a pump media thats already been thru a cycle and im using this stuff from nutrafin called cycle AND ive used a little bit of water out of a cycled tank...

wow how many times can i say cycle.... oops there i go again... rofl

Its directly proportional to the length of the piece of string.

using those methods i have heard it happening in the order of 48 hours but only you will know at the end of the day.

hmm, i have a draw full of pieces of string... il just grab a random one and measure it

There are so many different factors involved - and no two tanks are ever exactly the same.

Do you have any fish in the tank? Oh - and adding water from a cycled tank won't speed up the process as it doesn't hold any beneficial bacteria - this is contained in the filter, ornaments and gravel.

I would say that if you can get a load of gravel or some ornaments from a cycled tank, that will help to speed up the process. Good luck with it :)

nah, no fish in it. just doin a fishless cycle

you will have a de-nitrifying colony (albeit small) already as you have used existing media, you need to check whether the chemicals you are using are feeding this colony as without fish there is no ammonia.

If this isn't the case you will still need to feed the tank as per the usual fishless cycle methods
