Angelfish

Would a group of Angelfish work in a 55 gallon. If so how many? Also, could I keep a group of cories and a BN?

I have 5 angles in my tank (55g). The minimum group size for angels unless mates pair. The general rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon... there is a great fish wiki on the sight the 2nd tab from the left of the page there you will be able to find the size of your fish fully grown etc....and if I'm thinking correctly 1 BN pleco should be plenty for the tank.

A 55g is a nice tank for a shoal of angelfish. In fact, it is the minimujm sized tank for these fish which as mentioned should be in a group of 5-6 (or more in larger tanks). Corys are fine with them, as are BN pleco. I agree, only one BN as they consume algae and if the tank is balanced there will not be sufficient to justify more than one BN. A group of corys from minimum 5 to 20 if you like will fit in nicely. If you want more than one species of cory, 5 is a good number for each species, though in a pinch 3 of each will work; they are very social fish and most species like some of their own around them.

Be careful of those so-called stocking guides. There are many facets to having "community" fish, from water parameters, environment, filter currents to lighting; selecting fish that share the same requirements in all these areas is essential.

Have a look at the info in our fish profiles, second tab from the left in the blue bar at the top, or click on the shaded name of a fish in posts to see that profile, example Pterophyllum scalare for the common angelfish.

I need to stop looking at aqadvisor. This is a plan for a future tank, and when I put in 5 Angels, a shoal of Cories and a BN, it says I am way overstocked.
