Treat Ick with salt
Hi all, I just had a quick question for the masses, My discus fish currently have Ick, and I was wondering if anyone has had success treating discus that have ick with salt. I wasnt sure if my discus would tolerate the salt treatment so I thought it best to ask first. My curret paramaters are 84F, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, less than 5ppm of nitrate, ph is a little high around 8.0 but the LFS I buy from told me that they breed and raise there Discus at this ph because thats the level it comes out of the tap in my area. Its a fully established 125 gallon aquarium and has been set up for about 6 months now. The ick presented itself when I introduced some new discus that I didnt quarantine fisrt (face palm.......). I do weekly 20-50% water changes and vaccume substrate. Has anyone had success treating ick in this manner with discus specificly? I would be upset if i killed $400 worth of fish becasue they wouldnt tolerate a treatment I gave them. I appretiate any input.
Regards VTonic

I just sent you a PM, Vtonic. I need to know if the tank is planted, and what other tankmates are in the 125 besides the Discus. I hesitate to offer any advice until I know the answers to these questions. In the meantime, set up a QT tank, for the future Discus we both know you will be aquiring! ;-)
