can someone id this fish

i see these fish all the time and am prob crazy for not knowing their name but oh well. I got it given to me when someone was getting rid of their tank. it's gotten alot bigger since i got him, though he's still only about 2 inches long and a bit over 1 1/2 inches from top to bottom.

I think that's a Black Phantom Tetra.

it is a Gymnocorymbus ternetzi black widow tetra, aka black skirt tetra.
it is not a Megalamphodus megalopterus black phantom tetra

Black Skirt Tetra = Black Phantom Tetra = Black Widow Tetra = your fish :D

Lupin 05-01-2007 09:07 PM

The-Wolf was correct. Black skirt tetra=Black widow tetra
Black phantoms are another species.:)

Nice fish, Squiggles.

thanks guys, to be honest i think it was listed as a siver dollar at the store and the more i thought about it the more i was sure that must be wrong. when i lookd it up i could tell right away that wasn't a silver dollar.
