pregnant molly - shimmies?

My poor Balloon molly has been very pregnant for quite some time.

I thought for sure she was going to drop her fry last night (she was hiding in the plants, chasing the other fish and had the shimmies)... No fry last night but she still has the shimmies even worse. I am wondering if maybe something is wrong? she has lost a bit of her color over the course of the week. She has also been acting strange this week (hiding by the heater) but just started hiding under the plants and aggressively guarding her space last night, she has also been eating fine. She will seem fine and then swim forward quickly and then back up and then she shakes as if she has a chill, also seems to be a bit off balance at times.

my water quality is good, ph is 7.4, she is in a 30 gallon with 4 other balloon mollies and they seem to get along well.

How many fry do you think she may be carrying and how much longer do you think this will go on?

I have been watching for hours on end to try and catch her giving birth and I am really hoping that everything goes well.

Classic signs of being very close to giving birtH!! Hiding by the heater and chasing other fish away are typical signs of that!!

she had her babies today while I was at a dentist appointment lol

about 25 plus an egg, some of them seem premature with large yolk sacs but most of they are large fully formed. They appear to be mostly orange and black.

I will take pictures later... they are super cute!

so there are 26 in total that I have managed to separate from the main tank, I am going to select 5 to raise on their own and release the rest back into the tank. Should be interesting to see if any/how many survive and if the growth rates are different.

Pics coming

well I saved 9 (they are very difficult to separate lol)

I released the rest into the tank probably half got eaten right away and the others found nice hiding spots (for now anyways) so I turned the light out to give them a good chance to find their bearings.

they are amazing at keeping low key in the main tank...

They shimmy along and then dive into the gravel lol

I saw about 3 this morning and probably more hiding... it will be interesting to see what happens.

I have another tank that has just (today) tested 0 for nitrites so I just need to get a heater and I can move them.
