Tank ready for fish import....Thanks guys
Temporarily added old plastic plants for hiding places since live haven't yet arrived and fish shipping Monday!!!. Small tank but will be a new beginning! Excited!! Here is the tank as is at the moment!!
Boy flash shows I need to clean outside of tank with something that won't streak!!!!
Looks good :) What type of fish are going in there. As for the outside cleaning, use a little white vinegar on a paper towel.
And if that's a real seashell in there, it might raise your ph which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on which fish you have in there. My ph is 6.2 out of the tap (well water) and I have fish that like neutral or slightly higher ph so will use rock or coral to keep the ph in the neutral zone.
Good luck and post pics when you get your fish.
yeah it is real. Funny though since I added it the Ph is back down to 7.5. Water is already hard alkaline water from deep well spring. And the tank is small so I am limited to platty etc that can handle it. Not large enough for the cichlids or I would definately be back into them. Limestone runs under the wetland here.
There is a gold fish in there now down on the left by the filter. But she is getting too big and will be moved to the Grandkids larger tanks downstate for Christmas.
sounds like it's working out well for you then. we like when that happens :)
Good start! The shell will not effect the pH and GH of the water right away, but will in the long run. To make the tank really "pop", I would remove the current backround and add a black one instead. Also, maybe move the filter and heater to behind the driftwood to hide it some more. Good luck!
Directions on the intank filter said NOT to plant right in front of it (intake is at bottom of it). I do have some peat and native plants from the pond behind the driftwood. Driftwood was actually a retaining wall to keep the peat from mucking up the tank. Also to give any future fry a protected place from the filter flow. I have plans for the corner (front side of filter) with live plants to hide its view from front of tank.
The goldfish will be upset to lose this spot. He greeted me at front of tank and swam around my hand as I was adding things. When I finished he danced at the glass for me!!! I guess he thought it was all for him/her. But he will get tooo big for the tank and will have a new home soon. Poor thing.... fixed up his house and soon to be evicted! I hope he will be happier to go join his relatives in a bigger tank with my Grandkids.
Well fish are here. See my post...made it 24 hours but....
