funky smell...need help

hello everybody! ok so here's my question. i have a 10 gallon tank. it's already cycled and done. i have a couple of fish in there. i've noticed a little bit ago, that my water just stinks. it's not like the nice earthy smell that it had in the beginning. this just reeks like...well...fish. but really bad. i just want to know if this is normal. my water conditions are pretty normal except for my nitrate levels are a little high, but they are going down. i don't know what's going on! please help!

What inserts are in your filter? Activated Carbon filters out any smells usually. Pick up some carbon inserts and your tank smell should disappear within a few hours.

Is the water cloudy white? It's possible you might be overfeeding. How often do you vacuum the substrate?

Yes, if you keep your tank 'too clean' you end up with new tank syndrome, even if your tank isn't exactly new...

...but if that's not it...just try the carbon as suggested...
