reef lighting question
 
i have a 55 gallon soon to be reef aquarium. i found online this metal halide hood it has 2 halide fixtures with two 250w each so a total of 500w, 9 watts per gallon, is this to much for a 55 gallon aquarium?i plan to have SPS, LPS and or soft corals. i have a all glass top and the hood has a built in fan so would i experience overheating?
