Urgent need help with platy fry
hey guys..well I found one platy fry in my 10 gallon tank that has 3 platys 3 tetras and an oto. I dont know how its still alive but it is... So I took it out and put it in my brothers 20 gallon. There is no fish in it yet. My question is..can I just grind up some rlly small flakes and put them in the bottom? I just did that and put a tiny bit of lettuce and a tiny bit of sinking pellets in there just so that I know he is eating. Is there anything else I can do to keep "little bugger" alive?
I think being eaten by adult fish is the biggest threat to platy fry, so if there are no fish in the tank that you've moved it to, I don't think there's much to worry about... you can get fry food but I've never bothered. I just feed regular flake food, but I rub it between my fingers to grind it into smaller pieces/powder when I drop it in.
The only thing I do special to take care of my fry is I put it in a contraption (a netted structer used to keep other fish out) and fed it crushed flakes. It is pretty easy to take care of him.
BTW tetras need to be kept in groups of 6 or more. What kind of tetras do you have? Also, tetras are soft water fish and platys are hardwater. You might need to get another tank and seperate the soft water and hardwater fish. (You will have to research the oto because I don't know anything about them. You can use the fish profiles at the top of the page.)
If you have any further questions, I'm sure the forum will be happy to help!:-D
Hope this helps!
