I need help Identifying this disease
I seem to be having a real issue trying to figure out what is wrong with my Discus
The water quality is incredible with no measurable ammonia or nitrite. Nitrates are extremely low. My fish is housed in a 125 gallon aquarium with a total of 6 Discus, 4 glass cats, 3 clown loaches, 1 Flame Gourami, and 1 common pleco. It is well planted with a variety of broad leaf plants. I am using light aeration with an air stone, and 2 filters. 1 Marine land Penguin Bio-Wheel 200 that moves 200 gallons per hour, and 1 Aqua Clear Power Filter that moves 500 gallons per hour for a total of 700 GPH being filtered. The temp is set at 84 Fahrenheit. I apologize for the blurry picture but he won’t come out of hiding long enough for me to get a clear shot. It looks like spinney protrusions coming from under the skin right behind and above its eye. The fish has had a loss of appetite and is leaning to one side all the time now. It looks like some kind of bacterial or fungal infection that i cant seem to find online. Has anyone ever seen this before and know how to treat it?
Hey there. So sorry to hear about your Discus fish, from the looks of the picture it is such a beautiful discus! I honestly couldn't figure it out my self and I know you said that you looked on the web.
I found a good discus fish site and I hope that it helps. Discus Disease Symptoms DiscusDiary.com
Thanks for the reply! I have started treating for ick and it seems to be working. ITs just a WEIRD formation for it to present itself in. Anyways the ick treatment is working well so hopefully in a few days itll clear up (Whatever it is... Im still not firmly convinced its ick...)
I agree! I'm glad the ick treatment is working well so far and I hope it completely gets rid of whatever is on your poor discus. Usually ick looks like someone pour salt on them so when I saw it I was like "wow....ummm what is that?" I really hope it works. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for ya!
